Amsterdam – Canal Houses

This is a view across a canal in Amsterdam of the Canalside Houses. These houses are usually slim, high and deep, and often the front door is only accessible via stairs because of potential flooding. Many have special pulley installations in the attic designed to hoist up valuable goods, like spices, cotton, or cocoa, but which are now used for moving furniture.

For me this print represents a step up in terms of image manipulation, and a move to  more and more abstraction.
